
American trumpeter Caleb Wiebe has performed professionally with the International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico, with organist Clara Gerdes at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival, and with members of the American Brass Quintet at the Aspen Music Festival. He has appeared with period instrument ensembles in Europe and the US, including the Wrocław Baroque Ensemble, Luthers Bach Ensemble, Margaretha Consort, Das Neue Mannheimer Orchester, Ensemble Schirokko, the Sebastians, the Philadelphia Bach Collegium, with members of the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, and the Jeune Orchestre de l’Abbaye and Philippe Herreweghe at the Festival de Saintes. During his studies at the Curtis Institute of Music, Caleb and his colleagues won first prize in the trumpet ensemble division at the National Trumpet Competition (USA).
Passionate about music education and arts access, Caleb has worked as a faculty member and teaching artist for organizations including the Credo National Festival in Chicago, Jazz Aspen Snowmass, and Philadelphia’s Play On Philly. Early in his career, he served as an ArtistYear fellow, teaching 65 recorder students at Powel Elementary School in Philadelphia.
As a founding member of The Brass Project, Caleb helped premiere more than 30 works written for the ensemble. The group was featured by Santa Fe Pro Musica, at National Sawdust, and at Music from Angel Fire, and its debut album, Cityscaping, was released in 2018.
Caleb earned a master’s degree in baroque trumpet from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. He previously studied at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music (B.M.), the Colburn School, and the Curtis Institute of Music (Artist Diploma).
